Piano Lessons

There are many benefits in learning to play the piano. In addition to having a wonderful creative outlet, students learn the benefits of hard work and perseverance. Our piano curriculum at The Study includes music theory, so our students begin learning how to read music from the very beginning. This opens wide the doors of musicality for our students, providing the foundation for them to learn other instruments with confidence.

Our piano students are encouraged to participate in our bi-annual piano recitals, held in early December and again at the end of the school year.

Many parents are eager to start their children with piano lessons but are often unsure when the right time is. While age five is generally a good time to begin, readiness can vary—some children may be prepared earlier, while others might need more time. To determine if a child is ready, we typically look for four key indicators: the ability to recognize letters of the alphabet out of order, the ability to sit still for a 30-minute lesson, hands that can comfortably rest on five keys without excessive stretching, and sufficient fine motor control to play one key at a time.

We invite you to contact us for a consultation with our piano teacher, who would be happy to meet with you and your child. Additionally, piano lessons can be scheduled during the school day, and many students at The Study take advantage of this convenient option. These lessons are billed separately from tuition, and we ensure that your child’s piano time doesn’t conflict with core academic subjects. Weekly lessons are necessary for consistent progress, and for families with multiple children, we are happy to schedule lessons back-to-back to simplify planning.
